Dear Friends in Jesus Christ,
According to the Catholic Church and Catholic Faith, abortion is a mortal sin. So if I say, all of us have committed the mortal sin of abortion, what would be your reaction? Whether you agree with me or not, in the spiritual sense, we all are living under the mortal sin of abortion. Because, since from the reception of the sacrament of Baptism, we all have conceived the spirit of the Lord in our hearts, but did any one of us allow that spirit to take its form to its fullness in our hearts or in our lives?

Through the Gospel of today, Jesus reminds us that, “do not be afraid of those who kill the body, but cannot kill the soul; rather, be afraid of the one who can destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.” If we examine our lives, there is no doubt, most of our lives are just contrary to what Jesus has said in today’s Gospel. Yes, most of us are so much more worried about the body and its pleasures than the soul and its pleasures.
Precisely, because of this contradictory Christian way of life we have broken this world
to an extent. So let us not blame or point our finger towards the other, instead let us look into ourselves first and make the changes.  Yes, very clearly Jesus says to us to “fear no
one” to proclaim the good news or the kingdom of God. Unfortunately, we are living in a country and in a world, where we are so worried about hurting the feelings of other human beings, and keep the light of Christ in our lives, under the bushel basket.

Yes, dear friends, every time, we fail to stand in for Jesus and for His values in
this world, we are killing the presence of Jesus in this world and in our lives. The Gospel says to us that, the spirit that is given to us is not to be hidden, nor is it a secret, but it has to be revealed through our lives. This is the same message Jesus gives to us through the Gospel of Matthew 5:15 “No one light a lamp and put it under a bushel basket. Instead, they put it on a stand and it gives light to everyone in the house.” Yes, a Christian life should not be a hidden life or secret life, but it should be a public life, where everyone can see and get inspiration from our lives. But is that happening in our lives?

“Fear no one.” Dear friends, if we stand for Jesus and for His kingdom in this world, Jesus promises His unconditional protection for us, even after our death. The promise of protection  from Jesus can be seen in the Gospel, when He says “Are not two sparrows sold for a small coin? Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father’s knowledge. Even all the hairs of your head are counted. So do not be afraid.” Yes, God knows every detail of our lives and nothing can be hidden from Him. So dear
friends, it is very important that we trust Jesus and His words in our lives, and only then we can be an effective messenger of Christ in this world. So, during this Mass, let us ask for that grace of Faith and Courage to proclaim Him without fear.

God Bless you all!
